Bunyoro Union of Persons with Disabilities (BUPED) formerly Hoima District Union of Persons with Disabilities (HUDIP) is an indigenous, non-profit, non-political, disability umbrella which support persons with disabilities and other marginalized group of people, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in 1999 by a group of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) due to the gaps that were majorly caused by Disability and poverty.

BUPED registered in year 2010 registered with Ministry of Internal Affairs as National NGOs Registration with the National NGOs Registration Board (certificate Reg. No. INDR84283031NB) and Permit No. INDP80223031NB) as Non-Governmental Organization. BUPED was started by Persons with Disabilities in Greater Bunyoro with the guidance of the National mother Disability Organization- National Union of Persons with Disabilities of Uganda (NUDIPU) in a bid to decentralize the Disability movement at the lower levels of government and thus BUPED is affiliated to NUDIPU.

BUPED will work with the affected and general population to ensure l ensure fairness in carrying out all its actions, decisions, and activities. Inclusion and participation of affected people will be central in the work of BUPED.

BUPED believes in being transparent and accountable: financially, socially, and ethically to its beneficiaries, supporters, partners, and donors. To uphold this value, BUPED staff will ensure that board, staff, and volunteers conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the image of the organization during programme implementation.

Integration

BUPED believes that it is essential to work at all levels from the individual level through the international level with each other; in an amicable manner with organizations, agencies, institution, and government institutions with similar values. BUPED underscores the importance of each in the process of fostering development at all levels of society, hence integration. Equally, BUPED believes that programmes should be mutually reinforcing for holistic development.

BUPED believes it is critical that all staff share responsibility in supporting each other. To achieve this value, BUPED recognizes that each person has a role to play and has something of value to contribute towards the achievement of the organization mission and vision.

To keep the programmers alive and to provide an environment that enables staff to contribute meaning fully and realistically with confidence to the development of the organization, BUPED promotes a spirit of critical thinking and questioning of programmed approach, intervention and methodologies at the same time adapting to technological developments.

BUPED recognizes that continuous human resource development is necessary for both the staff and the organization. BUPED will continue to recognize the values its staff and works towards ensuring they are able to reach their full potential. Aware of the limited resources to serve its targeted beneficiaries, BUPED will strive to implement projects that derive maximum benefits to the beneficiaries.
